MANIFESTO

PROLETER-K^® is a brand of t-shirts founded by a multifaceted artist and designer Elena Skoko aka Sugar Babe and friends.

The name itself is a manifesto and it stands for cultural proletariat. It is a tribute to a specific historical moment where many individuals found themselves in similar situations and realised they share a common ground and life style from which they can start a new identity and international network. What inspires us is the energy that unfolds when people realise that the social and economic adversity they experience can push them to react and take the responsibility for their own life. We travel and meet with like minded people in meaningful places, exchange ideas and knowledge in order to improve, change identities and blur the boundaries of social systems so to feel alive.

We chose a t-shirt as our medium of communication and self-sustain, though we continue developing our creative quest in many ways. That's why you might find poetry, history, cinema, music, science, informatics, literature, magic, fine arts, photography, philosophy in our designs. We transfer our experiences on a t-shirt making it a wearable manifesto that you can understand or not, love it or leave it, ignore it or follow the signs that lead you to a new state of mind.

The product we offer is designed and followed in every single step. We make the graphics, we search for fabrics, we make the patterns and choose the most suitable printing techniques, as we are based in a place where many well known and less known international brands make their productions. We have breakfast and lunch with tailors in factories and treat each other with mutual respect. We speak the local language and share common interests with locals. We make sure every detail meets the European standards of quality. If we are still not using the organic cotton it's because we are not yet assured this is the best thing to do, but if using it can make you feel better let us know. We are nevertheless very environmentally aware.

We are quite flexible and fast. If you are a retailer you can make an order of minimum 60 pieces in 10 designs and you will get them in one month via DHL from Bali. We can even provide you with our handy-dandy t-shirt hanger and lots of catchy stickers. Contact us for details, you won't believe how reasonable and nice we are.
